Winthrop High School, as well as Monmouth Academy, recently received notice that our Football Team has won the 2015 Sportsmanship Award. For anyone who has ever attended our Athletic Information Night it has been made clear that Winthrop High School administration and staff consider this honor to be truly reflective our our expectations and distinguishes our school from others. We are proud of our athletes as this commendation is representative of the ambassadorship, sportsmanship and fair play. Below is the email from Mr. Bickford:

Dear Mr. Stoneton,

On behalf of the MPA Football Committee I would like to congratulate you and the Winthrop/Monmouth cooperative football program as you have been recognized with the Sportsmanship Award for Class D South for the 2015 football season.

This is a great honor, as those in Class D South see and appreciate the emphasis you and your coaches place on sportsmanship.
There will be banner presentations prior to the start of each of the championship games, and you and your football program can choose which game you would like to attend to receive your sportsmanship banner.

Again, congratulations!

Paul Bickford
MPA Football Committee

The Football team will be accepting the Sportsmanship banner on Friday, November 20th in Orono, Maine.
